The Accelerated Reader combines the best in children's literature with intuitive software that tests reading comprehension. The software also manages all student records and reliably tracks reading performance.

The objective of the Accelerated Reader Program at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School is that children will develop a love for reading and will want to read! As a result we hope that overall student reading levels will increase and test scores will improve.

Renaissance Place is the new version of the Accelerated Reader program.  The program has a special feature called Home Connect.  Home Connect is a fun, easy-to-understand web-based interface that allows the students, parents and teachers to share in the educational experience by viewing progress in certain Renaissance Place programs while outside of the school.

You can view Home Connect from any computer with an Internet connection using these browsers:
*Internet Explorer 6.02 or later
*Firefox 1.5 or later
*Safari 2.0.3 or later

Each child received a User Name & Password.  If you misplace your user name or password, please contact your teacher.

To log into Home Connect:
*Web site: https://Hosted57.renlearn.com/212615/HomeConnect/Login.aspx

In Home Connect you can also:
*Click Email Setup
to sign up to receive emails showing your student’s quiz or test results.
*Click Help to get answers to your questions about Home Connect.

Each student is given a test at least twice a year to determine his/her reading level for AR purposes. Students must read books within their reading level in order to take a quiz. If a quiz is listed and the book is not available at Prompt Succor, students may check it out from any other library and then take the quiz at school.

The annual reading goals for the 2007-2008 school year are as follows:

·         Students in grade 1 (will start 2nd 9 weeks) - 25 points

·         Students in grades 2 and 3 - 50 points

·         Students in grade 4 - 75 points

·         Students in grades 5 and 6 - 100 points

·         The total school goal for the year is 13,500 points

To encourage students to reach their goals, they can earn six reading dog tags over the course of the school year. Additionally, the top two readers in the school, one in grades 1-3 and one in grades 4-6 will receive a medal.
