COVID-19 SCHOOL CLOSURE

March 16, 2020

Dear Parents,
Our Lady of Prompt Succor School faculty and staff met today to finalize plans for students while school is closed.  Teachers have created assignments to review skills and build on what students know. Grade levels have worked together to create packets with a newsletter explaining the materials/assignments to keep students engaged until we return on April 13th.  Packets will be available for pickup on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm.  We are going to run packet pick up just like afternoon DPC carpool pickup where parents stay in your vehicle and OLPS Staff will bring your student's folder to you.
While school is closed custodians will be doing a deep clean and disinfecting throughout school.  In an effort to keep germs away as best we can we will not open the school to parents.  Teachers have gathered materials for any student that was absent Friday and those materials will be available for pick up with their packets in the DPC line.
As of today, March 16, 2020, we are planning on returning to school April 13th.  No school events have been cancelled after April 13th.  We will make every effort to reschedule missed events.  Please check your email for all school updates.  Thank you all for your patience during this time.
Please join us everyday at 2:30pm in praying the following Novena to Our Lady of Prompt Succor for her intercession on our behalf.

O Almighty and Eternal God, seeing us surrounded by so many dangers and miseries, grant in Thy infinite goodness that the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Thy Divine Son, may defend us from the evil spirit, protect us from all adversities, obtain for us for the health of our OLPS Family and safely guide us to the kingdom of Heaven. This we ask of Thee through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, forever.
O Mary, Mother of God, amid the tribulations of the world, watch over the people of God and be to us truly Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Make haste to help us in all our necessities, that in this fleeting life you may be our succor. Obtain for us protection from illness Help us to gain life everlasting through the merits of Jesus, thy Son, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. (Three times.)

Message from Mr. Thomas Roque

Respectfully, in accordance with the decision of Governor John Bell Edwards, ALL schools of the Diocese of Alexandria will be closed from Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 10. Please note that we will use a week of this closure for our Spring Break. All schools in the Diocese of Alexandria will officially resume on April 13, 2020.

We are concerned for the overall health of our students, faculty and school employees. We also want to attempt to slow any spread of viruses during this time frame. In addition, please expect notifications from each school leadership for postings of classroom assignments. This will be posted on their individual websites.

Students and family members traveling to areas deemed a high risk for COVID-19 will be asked to self-quarantine before returning to school.

Diocese of Alexandria Catholic Schools Superintendent
