Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church and School is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Debra L. Fountain as the school principal effective July 1, 2019, succeeding Mrs. Jo Tassin.
Mrs. Fountain, of Walker, LA, holds an M.S. degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with an emphasis in Educational Leadership and Instructional Technology. She holds a B.S. degree in Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She is a candidate for the Doctor of Education degree.
A veteran teacher and administrator with Catholic School administrative experience in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston systems, she is a lifelong Catholic who is passionate about the Church and the wider community.
Mrs. Fountain has worked in both Catholic and public-school systems and over her 30-year career has served as a teacher, alternative teacher certification director, dean of academics, central office director and principal of both 3K-8 and alternative 9-12 high schools.
“My vision for a well-rounded, high-quality, academically rigorous Catholic education is to empower students to achieve their potential and use their gifts to serve God and others,” Mrs. Fountain said. “This is done by encouraging fresh, innovative ideas and energy to not only sustain our Catholic school but create conditions where it thrives.”
Mrs. Fountain will be present at OLPS during next week’s Catholic Schools Week activities, including the Meet and Greet for prospective parents Monday, Jan. 28 at 6:00 P.M. in the Divine Providence Center.
Mrs. Tassin has served on the OLPS faculty for 30 years and as principal for the last 15 years. She is retiring at the end of the current academic year.
