Academic Resources

Our Lady of Prompt Succor has three resource teachers in our faculty in addition to the Title 1 program teacher. Mrs. Sandy Riche, Mrs. Mary Jo Broussard, and Mrs. Morgan Lauve are certified resource teachers who focus on helping children with physical or educational learning difficulties to develop their academic skills.

Our resource teachers work with the students' teachers and use teaching methods that have been modified from the general education curriculum to meet each student's individual needs. Olinger Hall was completely remodeled into 4 resource rooms during the summer of 2018. Our new resource classrooms will contain computers, books, reference books and other educational aids used with students who need individual and/or small group instruction. Our resource rooms also offer a distraction-free alternative for test taking.

Title One

The Title 1 Program provides services for targeted assisted students at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in the areas of Reading and Math. Our Title I teacher, Mrs. Bonnie Gremillion, is a former 2nd Grade teacher at OLPS.

The Title I teacher and the regular classroom teacher coordinate efforts to maximize the educational experiences of the Title I students. Hands-on activities, computer programs, and basal materials are used to enhance learning. Small group and individualized instruction are employed to re-teach specific skills identified on unit reading/math tests. The academic progress of the students receiving Title I services is measured by a combination of assessment instruments to accurately reflect the progress of the students.

HOMEWORK HELPERS and TUTORING

Homework Helpers is offered Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00 until 4:15pm to students in grades 3 - 6. Students may attend each day or only as needed. Homework Helpers is held in Room 4-C and a light snack is provided. A teacher is available to assist students with their written homework and (if time permits) study for tests. The fee for attending Homework Helpers is $12.00 per day. Payment is to be brought daily in cash. Any student not picked up at 4:15pm will go to After School Care, and the regular after-school care fee of $6.00/day per child will also be charged.

Several of the Our Lady of Prompt Succor teachers offer private pay tutoring services after school. OLPS cannot guarantee availability or collect payment. We do offer assistance in connecting parents and teachers. If you would like to request after school private tutoring, please complete the form below.
