Our Lady of Prompt Succor has two resource teachers in our faculty in addition to the Title 1 program teacher. Mrs. Sandy Riche and Mrs. Mary Nassif are specialized resource educators who focus on helping children with physical or educational learning difficulties to develop their academic skills.
Our resource teachers work with the student’s teacher to use existing traditional teaching methods that have been modified from the general education curriculum to meet each student's individual needs. Olinger Hall was completely remodeled into 4 resource rooms during the summer of 2018. Our new resource classrooms will contain computers, books, reference books and other educational aids used with students with learning difficulties. Our resource classrooms also offer a distraction-free alternative for test taking.
The Title 1 Program provides services for targeted assisted students at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in the areas of reading and math. Our Title 1 teacher, Mrs. Bonnie Gremillion, is a former 2nd Grade teacher at OLPS.
The Title 1 teacher and the regular classroom teacher coordinate efforts to maximize the educational experiences of the Title 1 participants. Hands-on activities, computer programs, and basal materials are used to enhance learning. Small group and individualized instruction are employed to re-teach specific skills identified on unit reading/math tests. The academic progress of the students receiving Title 1 services will be measured by a combination of assessment instruments to accurately reflect the progress of the students.
